The ocean.
He didn’t know why he was so fascinated with it. Maybe it was because it was so different from anything he’d ever seen before. The first thing he’d noticed about it was the smell. No matter what coast he stood on, it smelled the same. Crisp, salty, thick and wet.
Nothing like the creeks, rivers or lakes back home. The ocean smelled alive.
It had its own sound too, the crashing of breakers on rocks, the soft gentle shushing of the water caressing the sand. It was like a heartbeat. Strong and steady.
He didn’t mind the desert operations, but he always looked forward to the assignments that took them to the coast and the sea.
To stand on beach, smell the salt air, feel it wrap around him the gentle embrace of a lover, to hear the heartbeat of something greater than he himself.

I've been working on some NCIS:LA stuff and people who said they'd beta for me have inexplicably disappeared causing me much disappointment and hair pulling.

To top that off my car keeps breaking down so I have no way to get to work and that led to the joy of being sacked…
No car, no money for the phone = no job and no job interviews = no money.
So I have no energy to write… I’m sorry.

I’m sure it’s not what you intended to do but all you’ve done is stir up the Rat Patrol fanatics and increase the popularity of her stories.
